There’s nothing quite like summer in Eugene, Oregon…..once it finally arrives. One needs a bit of patience, because there are years when it doesn’t really arrive until after the 4th of July. This year, after a long, beautiful spring, it looks like summer will arrive later this week, with temperatures approaching three digits.

It is a good time to remember how important it is to take care of your hearing devices during these hot months. Heat and moisture can be a negative combination for hearing aids and cochlear implants., resulting in malfunction and/or damage.

Your audiologists have taught you how to take care of your devices on a daily basis (use that Dry-Aid box !!), but it’s also a good time to take advantage of the cleaning and maintenance services available at Hearing Associates. One of the many advantages of buying your hearing aids from this office is that you are then entitled to “dropping in” between 10:00 -11:00 am, Monday through Friday, to have your devices cleaned. This is not a service you get at the big box stores, and it’s good for your devices, and therefore good for your hearing, to take advantage of this service. It is recommended that you have your devices cleaned at least once
every three months.

Like any expensive piece of equipment we purchase, taking good care of it ensures a longer life, and gives you better service. This is true for hearing devices, just as it is true for a woodworking tool, or a sewing machine, or good kitchen knives. Take care of them and they will take care of you.
